Privacy
Your privacy, in plain English
How we look after your information on Leverrs Academy. Last updated 23 October 2026.
1. Who we are
Leverrs Academy is run by Leverrs. We are the “controller” of the personal information described here, which means we decide how it is used and we are responsible for looking after it.
- Email: support@leverrs.co.uk
If your school or tutor created your account for you, they decided to use Leverrs and may have their own privacy notice too.
2. What we collect
| Information | Examples | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Account details | Name, username, password (stored scrambled, so nobody can read it), year group, avatar, whether you're a student, parent or teacher | You, your parent or your school |
| The email address on the account: your own, or a parent or carer's if you're under 13. Whether it's confirmed, and which emails you've said yes to. A record of the emails we've sent. | The sign-up form, or Settings | |
| Consent records | That you (or your parent) agreed to this notice, when, and which version | The sign-up form |
| Learning activity | Lessons finished, quiz and practice-paper answers and scores, mistakes to review, XP, streaks, badges, coins and games played | Using Leverrs |
| Learning analytics | For each answer: whether it was right, how long it took, the type of question and the time of day | Using Leverrs |
| AI tutor and teacher chats | Questions you ask the tutor or say to the AI teacher, and her replies | Using those features |
| Voice | When you talk to the AI teacher, your voice is turned into text so she can answer. We keep the text, not a recording. | Your microphone, only when you switch it on |
| Friends and challenges | Friend links (made only with a code you choose to share), challenge results, invite links | Using those features |
| Parent links | Which parent accounts can see a child's progress | The child's family code |
| Waitlist | Email, whether you're a parent, student or teacher, school years, and which link brought you to us | The waitlist form |
| Technical | A login cookie, and your IP address and browser details in short-lived server logs | Your device |
We don't ask for phone numbers, photos, school names or home addresses. Please don't put them, or an email address, in your name or username.
3. How we use it, and why we're allowed to
| What we do | Lawful basis under UK GDPR |
|---|---|
| Run your account, lessons, practice papers, games and progress tracking | Providing the service you or your parent signed up for (contract), or our legitimate interest in providing education to the learners who use it |
| Learning analytics: spotting which topics you find tricky, when you learn best and what to do next, so lessons, recommendations, the AI teacher's focus and parent and teacher reports fit you | Legitimate interests: helping children learn better is the reason Leverrs exists. It only uses your learning activity, it stays inside Leverrs, and it never leads to decisions with legal or similar effects about you. |
| Show progress to linked parents and to teachers | Legitimate interests, and contract with the parent or school |
| AI tutor and AI teacher | Providing the service; voice features only when you choose to switch on your microphone |
| Keep Leverrs safe and working (security, stopping misuse, fixing bugs) | Legitimate interests and legal obligations |
| Account emails: confirming your address, password resets, invites and, for under-13s, asking a parent to confirm they agreed | Providing the service (contract), and our legitimate interest in keeping children's accounts safe |
| Weekly progress emails (you can switch them off in Settings or from any of them) | Legitimate interests: keeping learners and parents up to date with progress |
| Tips, news and offers by email, only if you (or your parent) tick the box | Consent, which you can withdraw at any time with the unsubscribe link or in Settings |
| Waitlist and launch emails | Consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
We do not use your information for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use third-party tracking or analytics tools.
4. Children and parental consent
Leverrs is made for children and teenagers. If a student is under 13, a parent or carer must agree to them using Leverrs and to this notice before the account is made. Parents can link their own account to see their child's progress, and can ask us to correct or delete their child's information at any time. We follow the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code (the Children's Code): settings are private by default, children can't message each other, and friends are only added with a code a child chooses to share.
5. Who else handles your information
We use a small number of service providers to run Leverrs. They may only use your information to provide their service to us. If you'd like the name of a provider, email us at support@leverrs.co.uk and we'll tell you.

7. Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit or object to how we use it, and get a copy to take elsewhere. Parents can ask on behalf of their children. In the academy, Settings → Your data lets you download your information or delete your account straight away. For anything else, email support@leverrs.co.uk. We'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.
